Summer Shelf Work

As the school year approaches and I have started the change from summer to fall. I wanted to post a few pieces of work that I had on my shelf for the summer.  We studied healthy eating, North America, art and parts of the earth are just a few topic we covered.
Sorting healthy and junk food. I got this online as a kindergarten work sheet. This sheet wanted the children to cut and paste the items. So I just cut and laminated them so that the work could be re-use each time.

Some of our North American work was animals of N.A. and landmarks. I purchased the landmarks of the world at Hobby Lobby for $8.99.

Parts of the earth booklet and the children get to do their own.

Solar System
The children are able to re-create this Solar System.

Solar System labeling and coloring work.

Piet Mondrian Art for a Montessori Classroom

We have  studied Piet Mondrian in my classroom in the past and I wanted to share a few of the art pieces we did in our art area. Out of the geometric cabinet, I used a large and a medium sized squares. I found a non-copyrighted picture on Google. All I did was type in Piet Mondrian free art for kids, then I just picked one that I thought would work the best. I laminated the picture to make it last longer. The children are able to take the tray with everything on it to the table and complete the work.

Two squares and/or rectangles different sizes
Colored pencils: black, yellow, red, blue
Paper cut in half (8 1/2 by 5 1/2)
Ruler

I found the large blank art piece by Piet Mondrian on Google under Mondrian color pages. Then I just looked up the art piece, colored it accordingly with colored pencils, and I laminated it. I put everything on a tray for the child to have everything available to them.

On another tray, I had primary colored paint and different sized strips of black construction paper. The children able to create their own version of a Mondrian.

Introducing Cadbury Carmel Coffee

We have a new friend in our classroom, a Netherland Dwarf Bunny. She has now been with us for three weeks and we finally decided on a name for her! It was an unanimous vote for Cadbury Carmel Coffee, I will assure you that the children came up with this all on their own, I'm sure that the fact that Ms. Noel drinks Carmel flavored coffee every morning has nothing to do with it! One of our students Blake said to me "Ms. Noel, if we can have three names why can't our new bunny have three names." and he was right! We are really enjoyed having Cadbury in our classroom. Cadbury is potty trained; I didn't realize that they can be boxed trained! Ms. Noel is very excited about this fact! Cadbury likes to get out of her cage during our work time and interact with the children. If you get a chance come by the Green Room and see our new addition to our room.

Also, parents if you have any unwanted small pets, we would be happy to welcome them into our school! We love to have animals in our classroom; this allows the children to learn how to be respectful of other living things and what our part is on taking care of the world around us!

Month of March: St. Patrick's Day Work!

Making a rainbow

I numbered the steps to keep the children on track. The work is a long process but really worth it.

I found the hats at the Dollar Tree, so I used them as bowls for spooning.

 Tonging coins

I found this idea online, a Sensory box. My children love this work!

Here are a few others that I found on pinterest.com that I will be making and placing on my shelf!

If you've tried using logic, consequences, behavior modification, yelling and isolation with your children, all to find out that none of it worked, or even made things worse, you know what it is like to find yourself beyond your window of tolerance. This parenting training can change all of that.
