Introducing Cadbury Carmel Coffee

We have a new friend in our classroom, a Netherland Dwarf Bunny. She has now been with us for three weeks and we finally decided on a name for her! It was an unanimous vote for Cadbury Carmel Coffee, I will assure you that the children came up with this all on their own, I'm sure that the fact that Ms. Noel drinks Carmel flavored coffee every morning has nothing to do with it! One of our students Blake said to me "Ms. Noel, if we can have three names why can't our new bunny have three names." and he was right! We are really enjoyed having Cadbury in our classroom. Cadbury is potty trained; I didn't realize that they can be boxed trained! Ms. Noel is very excited about this fact! Cadbury likes to get out of her cage during our work time and interact with the children. If you get a chance come by the Green Room and see our new addition to our room.

Also, parents if you have any unwanted small pets, we would be happy to welcome them into our school! We love to have animals in our classroom; this allows the children to learn how to be respectful of other living things and what our part is on taking care of the world around us!

Month of March: St. Patrick's Day Work!

Making a rainbow

I numbered the steps to keep the children on track. The work is a long process but really worth it.

I found the hats at the Dollar Tree, so I used them as bowls for spooning.

 Tonging coins

I found this idea online, a Sensory box. My children love this work!

Here are a few others that I found on pinterest.com that I will be making and placing on my shelf!

Great Training Opportunity for Teachers and Parents

Beyond Consequences LIVE Training

Our Montessori teachers here at SMA will be attending Beyond Consequences LIVE Training on May 5th. The fee is waved if you buy one of the speaker's books (19.95 +shipping) One of the cheapest training days I've seen. The training goes from 9am to 4pm on Saturday May 5th. Below is the information to attend.  After you purchase the book, I was told that you need to print your book receipt and take that and the book with you to the training to get in, but don't forget to register!

If you've tried using logic, consequences, behavior modification, yelling and isolation with your children, all to find out that none of it worked, or even made things worse, you know what it is like to find yourself beyond your window of tolerance. This parenting training can change all of that.

Valentines Work

Ms. Robin and Ms. Sunshine were crafty enough to figure out how to make colored rice. I'm sure somebody out there has all ready discovered this but we felt very special the day they made it. :)
To make the rice:
Place instant rice in a large zip lock baggie, place a few drops of food color of your choice. Shake and then lay on a cookie sheet to dry over night.

Metal inset heart.

I actually found this on a different website a few months back and forgot to save the web address. I'm sorry, that I can't give credit to the person who created this but I thinks it's a grand idea.  :)
